We had a fabulous day at the Vale of Glamorgan Show this week and gave our brand new banner its first outing and it looked pretty spectacular! Our stall was an eclectic mix of wildlife friendly plants, locally grown country garden flower posies, wrapped bunches and beautiful flower arrangements together with our 'meadow in a pot' family potting activity. All of which were very well received by the public at the Show who collectively commented about how pretty and very unique the display looked. It just proved that after all the hours of hard work which went into preparing everything for the Show, it was most definitely worthwhile! If it's worth doing it's worth doing well I always say!
There's nothing I love better than getting out and about, talking to folks about the wonders of wildlife and nature. The very best thing about all of it is chatting to children. What they say and how they react to things is amazing. They have a unique sense of awe and wonderment about the natural world that is a complete joy and it's something that I always hope will never fade as they grow older. Keeping that sense of magic about the environment is something I feel very passionate about in helping children develop a fertile imagination, wide range of creative skills and problem solving strategies together with literacy and numeracy which can all happen when they are in the outdoor environment. Learning outdoors is fun and physical, aspects which very often appeal to children who are having learning difficulties within the classroom setting. The less pressured environment of the outdoors can free the body, mind and spirit creating a subliminal platform in which learning concepts and skills can be absorbed. Talking to children and getting their perspective on what they have learned by doing a specific activity whether in school or elsewhere is a real eye opener. I teach them but they teach me too..........
We are very pleased with a rebranding for Greenfingers Designs in Nature. This coincides with our appearance at the Vale of Glamorgan Show on the 13th of August at Fonmon Castle. We have streamlined and created our new literature to reflect the ever expanding skills and services that we offer. We undertook the design and concept which has resulted in a really lovely end product. Many thanks for supreme manipulation of computer technology must go to my daughter Stephanie who has been a real trouper! Thanks also to our printing company Minuteman Press in Cardiff for excellent production. We have also created a fabulous marketing events banner which we will display for the first time at the Vale Show.
Recently, on the 6th of August, we flew into the Hendrewennol Family Fun Day to Go Wild and Get Creative!. A Flurry of Butterflies and Dragonflies were created by some very happy children, although it was something that all the family were getting stuck into! It was great to see that every Butterfly or Dragonfly was completely unique to those who made them and also wonderful that families were spending valuable creative time together on a beautiful sunny day in the heart of the countryside. I don't think there could have been a more perfect day to be out and about! I wonder whether we could include all those lovely insects in the Big Butterfly Count???
